The situation with obesity among the American population seems to correlate with the general trend reported for diabetes.

CDC reports a roughly 12% increase in the prevalence of obesity within a 20-year period, which, once again, contradicts the predicted response to the overall increase in physical activity.

Obesity – an independent risk factor and predictor of cardiovascular disease – is one of the biggest concerns for people who are not physically active. Although dietary adjustments can greatly help in managing or preventing this issue, many people still focus on exercise as the generally accepted solution for weight management.
